1. Agnipath Scheme (Ministry of defence) - 16-06-2022

  • Voluntary ( not based on conscription like Russia , Israel & others )
  • Indian Armed forces recruitment scheme ( All 3 services )

  • Those recruited → Agniveers

  • Earlier know as “Tour of Duty’ 

  • Not optional → All personnel below officer rank → hired only thrugh this purpose

  • ½ yr training + 3 ½ yr service 

  • After 4 yrs → only 25% of Agniveers → recruited back into service ( rest out ) → Create a Younger & Active force

  • Eligibility → 17 ½ yrs - 21 yrs ( for 2022 only - Age 23 yrs at Max. )

  • Women will also be a part ( Gender neutrality + Inclusivity → Armed forces )

  • Plan of action → recruit 50000 anually ( after 4 yrs → normal actual release of troops including → current cadre + agniveers)

  • Agniveers will get ( after 4 yrs ) → Seva fund ( 11 lakh ) + Life cover ( during service ) + Agniveer certificate ( easy loans )

  • 17 yrs service

  • Lifetime pension

  • Even include above officer ranks

  • 4 yrs tenure

  • Below officer ranks

  • Lump-sum amount after 4 yrs ( no pension )

  • Reduce burden of pension

  • Security of permanent job gone ( 4 yrs system → ony 25% reback to service )

  • Concerns regarding training ( Is the training given to Agniveers match the training of normal troops ? )

  • The scheme brings → “ All India , All class “ → A soldier loyalty for its battalion or regiment or pride will compromised which is a main motivating factor
